Sifford Lakes Loop | August 18-20

The Adventure: Sifford Lakes Loop

The Dates: August 18-20

The Miles: 6 Miles

What to Expect: We meet at 9am in the Sun Oaks Tennis and Fitness Parking lot to sort gear and do initial introductions. From there you will carpool and follow your guide up to the trailhead. From the trailhead we will begin our loop along King’s Creek. A moderately strenuous trail will take us by King’s Creek Falls where we can drop packs and take a lovely dip.  Bench Lake is just down the trail and then a final climb on up to Sifford Lakes.  We will spend two nights there exploring the surrounding lakes, cooking delicious meals, and enjoying the solitude Lassen National Park so often offers. Epic star gazing at night makes this trip a prime opportunity for those who love sleeping out under the stars or in a hammock.

Who this trip is for: This is a fantastic trip for those seeking some silence and solitude, the stargazing fanatic, or the newer backpacker. Lower mileage means we can cruise into the lakes and take it easy and spending 2 nights up there means time to enjoy and rest in the surrounding areas.

Why we love this trip: Lassen National Park is a hidden gem in the North State.  At Sifford Lakes, the crowds are few and it’s easy to experience deep wilderness only a few miles from the trailhead. The Park is teaming with wildlife and crazy geothermal features. Lassen National Park is one of the best places for stargazing in the North State.

What to bring: Wild Beginnings will provide the following gear and equipment:

  • Tent
  • Backpack
  • Sleeping Bag
  • Sleeping pad
  • Stove
  • Cookware
  • Eating ware and utensils
  • Water bottles
  • Water filters
  • Food and coffee!

Clothing and footwear are the only things you need to provide. Wild Beginnings has you covered for everything else.  If you have your own gear (i.e. backpack, sleeping bag, etc…) feel free to use it, just make sure it’s wilderness ready! If you have any questions regarding your gear’s ‘readiness’, feel free to email your guide,

What not to bring:

Fire arms and weapons of any kind (animals are more afraid of you than you are of them), any illegal or recreational drugs (let’s get high in altitude) and as little technology as possible (we’re getting away from all that, remember!?).

Make it ‘Women Specific’! All you need is a group of 3 ladies to secure this trip as a women only adventure. Email for more details.

The Investment: $375

Early Bird Special (by August 5th): $325

*Permits obtained by Lassen Volcanic National Park*
