Granite Lake, Swift Creek Trailhead | September 8-10 2017
The Adventure: Granite Lake, Swift Creek Trailhead
The Dates: September 8-September 10
The Miles: 10 miles (5, out and back)
What to Expect: We meet at 9am in the Sun Oaks Tennis and Fitness Parking lot to sort gear and do initial introductions. From there you will carpool and follow your guide up to the trailhead. Granite Lake is a stunning subalpine lake, half of it at the base of granite walls, half along a wooded shore. The trail is a steady climb through old forest, next to rushing creeks, and past fields and meadows full of wild flowers. Lower mileage leaves lots of time for rest and solo time or outdoor living skills practice.
Who this trip is for: The elevation gain on this trip is pretty significant. We recommend people looking for a solid weekend adventure and are in good physical condition participating in this trip.
Why we love this trip: This is a great trip to end an epic summer and kick off the fall. Warm temps during the day while the evenings cool off make this one of the best times to do a backpacking trip in the Trinity Alps. Lakes are often still at a good swimming temperature and crowds are few. Best part? No bugs!
What to bring: Wild Beginnings will provide the following gear and equipment:
- Sleeping Bag
- Sleeping pad
- Eating ware and utensils
- Water bottles
- Water filters
- Food and coffee!
Clothing and footwear are the only things you need to provide. Wild Beginnings has you covered for everything else. If you have your own gear (i.e. backpack, sleeping bag, etc…) feel free to use it, just make sure it’s wilderness ready! If you have any questions regarding your gear’s ‘readiness’, feel free to email your guide, firstname.lastname@example.org
What not to bring:
Fire arms and weapons of any kind (animals are more afraid of you than you are of them), any illegal or recreational drugs (let’s get high in altitude) and as little technology as possible (we’re getting away from all that, remember!?).
Make it ‘Women Specific’! All you need is a group of 3 ladies to secure this trip as a women only adventure. Email email@example.com for more details.
The Investment: $375
Early Bird Special (by August 5th): $325
*Permits obtained by the Shasta Trinity National Forest*
